ART SCOOTER raises a nice amount for Free a Girl. The scooter is fully sponsored by Ebretti and selflessly edited into a work of art by Wine!

Initiator Wimmy Hu managed to arrange almost thirty exclusive items for the benefit ‘Wimmy Hu & Friends to Free a Girl’, which were sold during the large-scale auction in the Blaricum wine society Wexxs. On Sunday evening, a total amount of 402,300 euros was raised, which will fully benefit Free a Girl projects. Many well-known Dutch people attended the auction. The presentation was in the hands of Jeroen Nieuwenhuize and Froukje de Both. Artists, including Rene Froger, Jeroen van der Boom, Glennis Grace, Lange Frans, Thomas Berge, Tim Douwsma and Jamai, performed selflessly during the auction.

Wimmy Hu & Friends

In the past five years, the benefit evenings ‘Wimmy Hu & Friends’ have raised an amount of more than 2.2 million euros. With that money, emergency aid organization Free a Girl frees young girls from prostitution. Wimmy Hu went on a project trip to Fortaleza in Brazil with Free a Girl last summer. She saw there what is being done with the auction money and that help is still necessary.

This year’s benefit evening focused on the problems in the Netherlands. In the Netherlands, eleven entrepreneurs have invested 27,500 euros to start a shop in a former brothel in the Red Light District; this store sells products from the countries where the victims of human trafficking come from. Under the motto ‘There is more for sale from Eastern Europe’, Free a Girl wants to draw attention to the problem of forced prostitution in their own country.

Free a Girl not only frees young girls from prostitution, the foundation also invests in shelter, medical care, education and vocational training, trauma processing and reintegration of the girls. In addition, the foundation works together with the police and the judiciary to arrest human traffickers and get them convicted.
